Mission and Aims

1.  Purpose

A cricket club, where its members together provide an opportunity for the local community to participate in, and enjoy, all aspects of cricket in pleasant and friendly surroundings

2.  Mission

To play both senior and junior cricket at the highest level whilst maintaining our purpose. To develop cricket in our community

3.  Belief Systems & Values

That each member should:-

  • be encouraged to play at the highest level
  • support the purpose and mission of the club
  • behave in a sportsmanlike manner at all times
  • support the team and captain both on and off the field
  • contribute to the running of the club

That the club will:-

  • identify the tasks to be undertaken and ensure that these are shared across the playing membership
  • ensure that each member wherever possible is given an equal opportunity
  • understand a player's desire to play at his/her appropriate level

4.  Club Aims

Aim 1: Harness and develop all young cricketers so they have the opportunity to contribute to the game of cricket at all levels and play a central role in club cricket life

To operate and maintain a junior section that:-

  • provides coaching at all levels by qualified coaches
  • supports U-10 for friendly Terrier Cricket, U-12 friendly, and U-15 teams in the Bardfield League
  • encourages juniors to move into the adult second team when ready

Aim 2: Develop and strengthen a structure and pathway for women and girls to actively participate in and follow cricket

  • There are no barrier to women and girls. Over the years several have played in the junior sections.
  • We have aspirations to have a girls’ team and plan to develop this through the school links.

Aim 3: Develop and strengthen the whole club environment, promoting cricketing opportunities for disabled people

  • There are no barriers to disabled people.
  • Currently we have one not so able-bodied junior playing.

Aim 4: Develop and promote cricket for black and ethnic minorities

Stansted Cricket Club has enjoyed the benefit of many players and members from black and ethnic minorities.

Aim 5: Ensure that our cricket club is an integral part of the local community, contributing an invaluable service to all sections of the local community, developing club members, supporters and volunteers (maximum five bullet points)

  • Our outfield is used for local school Chance To Shine work.
  • Coaching staff have been supported through their desire to reach higher levels.
  • Coaching staff visit and work in local schools.
  • Members have been encouraged and funded through umpiring courses.
  • We have hosted local secondary school matches and West Essex U13 & U15 games.

Aim 6: Develop and strengthen senior playing teams, providing positive role models to all club members, leading achievement and success

  • The club selects the best available players to play in its Saturday 1st XI League matches.
  • The club selects the next best set of available players to play in its Saturday 2nd XI League matches.
  • The club plays friendly games on Sundays. These give an opportunity for players of lesser ability to participate and for seniors to play alongside promising juniors and help develop the latter into good senior cricketers over time.
  • The club aims to recruit new players by word-of-mouth recommendation, and by advertising in The Link, a local magazine distributed free to all houses in the parish of Stansted.
